BlAsian Exchanges

BlAsian Exchanges, a novel is about Earvin Ilokano, a Filipino American journalist in San Francisco, who decides to become a novelist in the midst of career and work frustrations. The tale he writes is a recollection of his attraction for Black women and Black culture in relation to his racial (Asian American) and ethnic (Filipino American) heritage. To stoke his poison pen,
journalist Ilokano - who is married to a Black woman - recruits Black women on the Internet to serve as his muses and consequently makes the story more "interactive" and the writing experience a little spicier for the reader not to mention the writer. Event Volunteers ;p My daughter and I almost did not go to this book launching. Kyla has to read Hamlet and we all know how hard that can be... and I am just plain lazy. But Jonathan(administrator of FilAm Library) called and he needed some volunteers so we made adjustments. Lucky for us we did. The afternoon proved to be very interesting and entertaining. I had to ask... if he's half Filipino and half Black, sensing his love for both cultures. But no, he's Filipino who grew up in the US, in a Black community. Just goes to prove that with an open mind and a loving heart, the gap separating people as Asians, Blacks, Whites, etc can be done away with. More power to you Sam!
